CO2 Footprint

CO2 Performance Ladder

Mactwin is actively working on its CO2 reduction. The CO2 Performance Ladder is a standard designed to encourage companies to act in a CO2-conscious manner in their own operations and during project execution. This mainly involves saving energy, using more sustainable energy and using energy and materials efficiently. More information can be found at www.SKAO.nl.

For us, the CO2 Performance Ladder is the designated instrument to map our CO2 emission inventory, or CO2 footprint, to pursue CO2 reduction, and to actively achieve this with stakeholders around us. This is a reason for us to certify for it. More about the CO2 Performance Ladder can be found at www.SKAO.nl.

CO2 emissions from our vehicle fleet and energy consumption of our premises are the most relevant.

CO2 Emissions 2022-June 2024

For 2022, 2023, and the first half of 2024, we observe the following:

Largest Emission Sources

Consumption Insights

  • Our vehicle fleet accounts for 69% of our emissions in 2023 (65% in 2022).
  • Electricity consumption of our premises is 23% in 2023 (28% in 2022).
  • Emissions from business travel are negligible.

Largest Emission Sources

  • The business vehicle fleet.
  • Office electricity consumption.
  • Office gas consumption.

Objectives

We aim to further reduce our emissions. The main objectives are:

  • In addition to electrifying our vehicle fleet, we focus on economical driving and making appropriate choices for our fleet.
  • We are investigating whether we can generate our own green electricity with solar panels, and as of March 2024, we will switch to green electricity.

For scope 1, we have set the following reduction targets compared to 2022:

  • In 2023: 5%.
  • In 2024: 7.5%.
  • In 2025: 10%.

In 2023, absolute emissions were 2.6% lower than in 2022, noting that the vehicle fleet expanded by 2 cars.
Per 1 million revenue, emissions were 15.495 tons of CO2 (2022: 16.088 tons of CO2), approximately 3.7% lower.
Per FTE, emissions were 3.564 tons of CO2 (2022: 3.430 tons of CO2), approximately 3.9% higher.
Based on the key figures per revenue, the reduction target has largely been met.

For scope 2, including business travel, our goal is to achieve a reduction compared to 2022 of:

  • 5% in 2023.
  • 20% in 2024.
  • 25% in 2025.

In 2023, the absolute reduction was approximately 16% lower than in 2022.
Per 1 million revenue, emissions were 6.433 tons of CO2 (2022: 8.198 tons of CO2), approximately 21.5% lower.
Per FTE, emissions were 1.482 tons of CO2 (2022: 1.748 tons of CO2), approximately 15.2% lower. The target was thus largely exceeded.
