GlueFusion – Cash degradation with glue in the cash cassette
At the end of September, Mactwin presented a new adhesive mutilation solution at the international trade fair Security Essen: GlueFusionTM ATM.
GlueFusion is a revolutionary way to mutilate money in ATM cash cassettes with glue. Unfortunately, ATMs, in the Netherlands but certainly also in the rest of Europe, are still very regularly targeted by criminals.
They try to gain access to the money in the machine by ramming or bombing or by placing explosives.
These attacks are not always successful, while in most cases a lot of damage is done to the ATM itself and the building in which the ATM is placed.
Many ATMs are therefore equipped with cameras and various sensors to signal a possible attack as early as possible, after which the money in the cassettes is mutilated.
At the moment, the mutilation of money is mainly done with ink.
Notes glued to ‘brick’
When GlueFusion is activated, the individual banknotes in the cash cassette are glued together at lightning speed and inextricably.
Since banknotes in a cash cassette are tightly stacked, an activation of GlueFusion will lead to a so-called brick of banknotes.
As a result, it is no longer possible to detach individual banknotes.
The banknotes will tear, irreversibly altering the physical properties of the notes.
No payment terminal or retailer will accept such a damaged note.
So if an ATM is equipped with good (fast) signaling equipment and such a cash mutilation module, then an attack makes no sense at all.
Removing the expectation of loot is actually always the best security solution.
Integral solution
A powerful central controller is part of this solution.
Once detected, the controller immediately activates the adhesive mutilation and can activate sirens and flashing lights to frustrate the criminal.
In addition, an alarm notification is immediately sent to a central control room, accompanied by all the necessary information and camera images.
If necessary, the police can be alerted immediately afterwards.
They can watch the camera images in real time via Live View and respond accurately.
With solutions such as GlueFusion and GPU (the Mactwin solution against explosive attacks), Mactwin offers all the security components needed to protect ATMs, and even the entire value space of a bank, against criminal attacks.
Experience with mutilation in cash boxes
Mactwin has more than 20 years of experience in mutilating money.
Mactwin was one of the first to develop a cash box with a mutilation module.
Of course, the development team has not been idle and the MactwinBox has been adapted to changing Modus Operandi and business processes at the cash and cash transporters.
During all these years, there were also regular consultations with all parties involved, including various national banks, about the desired degree of mutilation.
Enough to make the money worthless, but not too much in connection with being able to determine the value of the mutilated banknotes afterwards.
In the meantime, the MactwinBox has proven its worth.
In countries where this cash-in-transit case is used, the number of robberies of money runners has fallen drastically.
Logical, because it no longer makes any sense to rob a money runner.
