This was powerfully illustrated in a Reddit video, in which the LiDAR pulse visibly left a burn mark on the camera chip. <\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><h3>How is that possible?<\/h3>\n<p>Many LiDAR systems operate with powerful lasers in the infrared spectrum (usually around 905 or 1550 nm). That\u2019s why they operate with high power and tightly focused beams. In security applications like perimeter detection or indoor monitoring, this is rarely necessary.
