In a multi-tenant building, there are multiple tenants, each with their own requirements and preferences, including those related to security provisions. This is also the case for HeemstedeVeste, an office building in Amsterdam. Mactwin replaced the security systems here, taking into account the multi-tenant use of this office building. <\/strong><\/h2>\n\u201cBecause the existing security systems in HeemstedeVeste were outdated, Mactwin replaced them all this year,\u201d says Jan van de Bunt. Van de Bunt, as Technical Property Manager at Cushman & Wakefield, is responsible for the technical building management of HeemstedeVeste. \u201cI ensure that all technical installations and the building itself remain in good condition.\u201d Cushman & Wakefield, on behalf of the building’s owner, commissioned Mactwin to replace the security systems. <\/p>\n
From single-tenant to multi-tenant<\/h3>\n
In the past, HeemstedeVeste was rented by just one company for a long time. When this company downsized, the vacated office spaces were rented out to new parties. The current five tenants of HeemstedeVeste are diverse, ranging from an insurance company to a bailiff and a law firm. Van de Bunt explains: \u201cThe old security systems were still based on the building\u2019s single-tenant use. The new systems are now set up for the current multi-tenant usage. This means, among other things, that the zoning of the burglary alarm system has been adjusted, allowing each tenant to independently arm or disarm the security for their own leased area. This is both practical and secure, as some tenants are present 24\/7, while others operate during regular office hours.\u201d <\/p>\n
Up-to-date and future-proof security<\/h3>\n
We have equipped the office building with modern, future-proof systems that can withstand the latest attack techniques,\u201d adds Erik Poulussen (account manager at Mactwin). \u201cAs a result, we have been able to achieve a security level that fits the tenant with the highest risks. We opted foraccess tags <\/a>with a Mifare Desfire chip. The data on this chip is well protected and resistant to hacking, for example. In addition, we implemented the advanced software-based AEOS access control system. Tenants can now easily grant or revoke access rights for new employees as needed. When selecting the systems, we not only considered the desired level of security but also the user-friendliness. By linking it to the burglary alarm system, employees can now also arm or disarm the security (in their office area) using their access tag.\u201d

The management software for the access control solution, including the central database with access rights, runs on a Cloud server managed by Mactwin. We no longer need to worry about it. Mactwin maintains this server, ensures that the latest software updates are implemented, and provides a secure VPN connection<\/a>. The only thing our tenants still need to manage is the access rights. Fortunately, a user-friendly application is available for this,\u201d Van de Bunt explains. <\/p>\nParking management<\/h3>\n
Not only is the building itself used by multiple tenants, but the associated parking area is as well. Each tenant has been assigned a number of parking spaces, but these are not always sufficient. While we are not encountering major issues yet, I expect we will soon face a shortage of parking spaces, says Jan van de Bunt. \u201cMactwin has already selected a parking management system for this. Each tenant will be assigned a number of parking spots proportional to the rented square footage, not just physically but also in the parking management system. No more cars will be allowed into the parking area than the number of spaces assigned. If an employee from a particular tenant tries to enter the parking lot after the maximum allocation for that company has been reached, access will be denied. I expect that we will ask Mactwin to roll out this solution in the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>
