Fortunately, there are now fewer corona infections and deaths, and the strict measures are slowly being relaxed. We are moving from an Intelligent Lockdown to an Intelligent Unlock. However, we will still need to maintain the 1.5-meter distance for a longer period. But how will you manage this in your organization, store, or museum? <\/p>\n

In this situation, where we are all looking for possibilities for a 1.5-meter society, we use our expertise to make working and living together easier, better, and safer. In a series of short articles, we outline some examples of how you can use (your existing) security technology for this purpose. This article focuses on People Counting with intelligent cameras. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>

To maintain the 1.5-meter distance from others, it is important that spaces do not become overcrowded. Therefore, restrictions are placed on the number of people allowed in a space at the same time. The maximum number of people allowed depends on the current regulations and the size of the space. With smart technology, you can easily maintain this set maximum without needing to deploy additional staff. <\/p>\n

How does it work?<\/h3>\n

Cameras with integrated Video Content Analysis (VCA)<\/a> count the number of people entering and exiting a building, floor, or space. When the maximum number of people is reached, the camera system sends a signal to, for example, a traffic light, which then turns red. Employees, visitors, or customers can immediately see that they need to wait until the light turns green again. Optionally, you can also play a spoken message with the red light, kindly asking people to wait.
Even friendlier and more informative is when you link the camera system to a (narrowcasting) monitor that provides real-time information about the number of people inside and the number of people still allowed to enter. This way, people not only know if they can enter but also how busy it is inside. <\/p>\n

Suitable for many different environments<\/h3>\n

People Counting with intelligent cameras is widely applicable, think of (office) buildings, stores, waiting areas, elevators, meeting rooms, company restaurants, stores, and exhibition spaces in museums.<\/p>\n

IP 3000i cameras from Bosch<\/h3>\n

People Counting as described above is possible with a new series of IP 3000i cameras from Bosch. The cameras are not only very suitable for regulating the number of people in a building but also for intrusion detection, compliance with safety regulations, and analyzing behavior in, for example, stores. With the built-in Essential Video Analytics, alarms can be triggered if people loiter suspiciously or enter a predefined area. The cameras can also detect things like blocked emergency exits or abandoned objects. <\/p>\n

A future-proof investment<\/h3>\n

With a measure like this, your organization can reopen, and employees and visitors will feel welcome and safe. How long this temporary ‘new normal’ will last is difficult to predict.
